The man behind the scenes of Quay, Guadalupe, Harding and Union counties Workforce Development Centers is retiring after 11 years.
Bill Griffin’s last day as coordinator and sole staffer of the four-county WDC region was Friday.
The WDC provides employment and unemployment services in the four county area.
Griffin was honored Wednesday by regional director Diane Baca.
“Bill has done so much for the center,” Baca said. “We just wanted to give him a plaque in appreciation for all his years of hard work.”
Griffin’s retirement leaves a vacancy in the four-county region. But the state is working hard to replace him, Baca said.
“I have been assured by the state that they will continue to provide service to all the counties,” said state Rep. Denis Roch (R).
