06-30-09: Fishing Report

This June 30 fishing report has been generated from the best
information available from officers and anglers. Conditions encountered
after the report is compiled may differ, however, as stream, lake and
weather conditions alter fish and angler activities.

Conchas Lake
Fishing was fair-to-good using poppers, tubes, senkos, brush hogs, craws, buzz baits and crank baits for smallmouth bass. Fishing was good using poppers and worms for bluegill. Fishing was fair using minnows, spinners, bottom bouncer spinner/night crawler rigs and grubs for walleye at 14-to-25 feet. Fishing for white bass was fair-to-good using crank baits, grubs, minnows and top water lures. Fishing for catfish was slow-to-fair using cut bait, liver and shrimp. We had no reports on other species.

Ute Lake
Fishing was good using drop shot rigs, crank baits, buzz baits, Ricos, power worms and senkos for smallmouth bass. The bass were stacked on points and along steep bluffs. Fishing was good using crank baits and top water lures for white bass. Fishing was fair-to-good using crank baits, grubs, minnows and bottom bouncer/night crawler rigs for walleye. Fishing was very good using worms for big bluegill. Water surface temps ranged from 69-to-78 degrees and the color ranged from clear to murky.

There were no reported catches of the week at Conchas or Ute lakes.
