Three questions with Larry Moore

Freedom New Mexico

Larry Moore

He’s the Quay County road superintendent whose day usually begins with a 6 a.m. meeting with staff.

(Editor’s note: Answers have been edited for clarity and space constraints.)

1. What are some of the day-to-day operations you oversee?

Roads that need to be worked that county residents have called in on. (We also) discuss roads that need to be worked in each blade man’s area. (I) review previous days’ reports on state-funded county projects (and I) update the county manager on road projects, equipment repair and all other concerns.

2. What new projects are you working on?

We have just sent in the paperwork to finish Quay Road AI (Airport Road) for a half a mile. Also in the works is Quay Road 64 (Cedar Break Road) two miles. And … project(s) for next year totaling 20 miles of county roads to be resurfaced.

3. Do you and your employees have many snake encounters?

So far last year and this year no snake encounters, yet.
