Local authorities say the holiday weekend was pleasant as nearly 40,000 people visited Ute Lake State Park in Logan.

From Thursday through Sunday there were 39,000 visitors to Ute Lake State Park, said Marty Niman, New Mexico State Parks public information officer.

Despite the high number of visitors the New Mexico State Police reported no DWI’s in Quay County.

“It was a quiet weekend,” said Lt. Cleo Baker of the NMSP.

Baker said over the weekend State Police responded to two collisions (non-fatal), issued 34 speeding tickets, 11 seatbelt tickets and two child restraint tickets.

The annual Fourth of July Parade was held on Saturday and featured 33 floats. Click here to view a slideshow of the parade
