The New Mexico Gaming Control Board asked hearing officer David Chacon at a Friday meeting in Albuquerque to act on a motion dismissing La Mesa Racetrack and Casino’s appeal to keep its gaming license, gaming board executive director Greg Saunders said.

“The hearing officer heard both sides and gave the state until next Wednesday to provide any additional information they wished to, and (La Mesa attorney) Mr. Bregman until next Friday to provide any information or any rebuttal to what we provide, and he will make a decision sometime after that,” Saunders said.

Chacon’s decision will determine whether La Mesa’s appeal will go forward and whether the city of Raton will remain a candidate to host a planned casino and horseracing track.
