Arturo Grajeda named student of month

Arturo Grajeda has been named Teenager or Student of the Month by the Tucumcari Elks Lodge.

Arturo Grajeda, 16 is the son of Arturo and Alma Grajeda of Tucumcari.

He is a sophomore at Tucumcari High School.

The Teenager or Student of the Month program is sponsored by the Elks Lodge in an effort to bring recognition to outstanding youth in the area.

Teenagers or students of the month are selected by a panel of youth in each participating high school within the jurisdiction of the sponsoring lodge.

Multiple achievements, citizenship, scholarship, and leadership are the basis for selecting teenagers or students of the month.

Students are nominated monthly by classmates and teachers in their school and then screened by a school student committee for selection as the teenager or student of the month.

Nominations for subsequent months’ teenagers or students will be accepted after the first Monday of each month.

Arturo Grajeda has been active in Spanish and math tutoring. Scholastically, he has an A average. He has also been on the honor roll numerous times and has won spelling bee awards.

Upon graduation, Arturo hopes to go to college and major in mechanical engineering or health. Arturo is also considering joining the military.
