On April 15, two Tucumcari students were honored at the annual Wind Ball hosted by Cielo Wind Services. The ball was held at the Catholic Hall in Vega, Texas, and featured a live band and food catered by Boot Hill Saloon and Grill. Patrick Wiegel, a senior at Tucumcari High School, received the 2011 Cielo Earth Stewardship Award scholarship. Patrick plans to attend New Mexico State University next year and major in engineering. He is the son of C.J. and Audrey Wiegel of Tucumcari. Benjamin Aragon, an eighth-grader at Tucumcari Middle School, was honored for his entry in Cielo’s Earth Day Art Contest. Ben painted an acrylic on canvas of Tucumcari Mountain surrounded by wind turbines. Ben is the son of Ramon and Lila Aragon of Tucumcari.
