The Tucumcari Rattlers and San Jon Coyotes look forward to home field advantage as the Logan Longhorns travel across the state to Reserve.

The 4-2 Rattlers are happy to be back in front of a hometown crowd after three games on the road, said Rattlers head coach Wayne Ferguson.

The Rattlers will play host to the 1-5 Dexter Demons.

“If you overlook them they are a team that can get away from you,” Ferguson said.

Ferguson said the Demons have played several tough teams including the Tularosa Wildcats.

“They are a big physical team,” Ferguson said. “This team has the potential to be dangerous.”

The 2-2 Coyotes will play their first game at home this Friday against the 2-3 Roy Longhorns.

“The players are excited for the chance to play in front of their family and friends,” said Coyotes head coach Steve Foust.

Foust said the team has not seen any film on the Longhorns and is not sure what to expect.

“We know in the past they have been a strong team,” Foust said. “We will just have to play our game.”

While the Rattlers and Coyotes prepare for home games the 1-5 Longhorns will leave Thursday for their game against the 1-5 Reserve Mountaineers.

“It’s going to be a long trip and we want to get there and make sure our players get their legs off the bus,” said Longhorns head coach Kene Terry.

Terry said the Longhorns earned their first win of the season a 60-9 win over the Floyd Broncos.

“Our pass game was off during that game,” Terry said. “We had a lot of success with the pass against the Mustangs a week earlier.”

Terry said the Longhorns adjusted quickly and began to move the ball with their rushing attack.

“Our run blocking really came alive against Floyd,” Terry said. “We just started pounding the ball and never looked back.”

Terry said he will look to run an balanced offensive attack against the Mountaineers.

“Everyone wants to be balanced on offense,” Terry said. “It’s just a matter of how things pan out come game day.”

The Longhorns play at 1 p.m. Friday at Mountaineers

The Coyotes play at 3 p.m., against Longhorns

The Rattler play at 7 p.m., against the Dexter Demons.
