The Tucumcari Rattlers football team finished their season with a record of 6-5 and a appearance in the 2011 AA state tournament.
“As a team we were successful,” said Rattlers head coach Wayne Ferguson.
Ferguson said the Rattlers 6-5 season was their first winning season (above .500) since 2005.
“We were able to make the playoffs but drew a tough first round opponent,” Ferguson said.
Ferguson said the team made a lot of progress in overcoming the time lost over the summer.
“They were able to adapt to the new system,” Ferguson said. “Now it is time to prepare for next year.”
Ferguson said the returning Rattlers need to work on a new level of commitment. He said during the off season the players need to get into the weight room and attend summer sessions.
“We need to catch and match the commitment of other teams in our division,” Ferguson said.
