Press release: State and federal support for Eastern New Mexico Rural Water System remains strong

On April 25, 2012 the NM State Water Trust Board acted to approve $3,788,834 in FY 2012 for the Eastern New Mexico Rural Water System (ENMRWS). This state sponsored regional rural water project is also one of seven federally authorized rural water projects.

"On behalf of the ENMWUA I would like to extend my deepest thanks to the Water Trust Board for their continued support of this vital project for our area," advised ENMWUA Chairman Gayla Brumfield on Thursday. "It is great to see funding support being approved by both our federal and state governments and we are extremely thankful to all who assist in moving this project forward."

Support remains strong for this important project with a recognized critical need. ENMRWS will deliver a sustainable supply of water to populations within Curry and Roosevelt Counties who are currently seeing rapid and irreversible declines in their aquifer. The ENMRWS serves Clovis, Portales, Melrose, Texico,

Grady, and Elida, as well as Cannon Air Force Base in support of their mission.
