Former Quay County resident Stassi Pyne won her second consecutive World Champion Barrel Racing Title at the International Professional Finals Rodeo Jan. 18-20 at Oklahoma City, Okla.

Once again the International Professional Finals Rodeo is history and Stassi Pyne, a 2000 graduate of then-Mesa Technical College, has claimed her second consecutive World Champion Barrel Racing Title.

Pyne is a former resident of Quay County, student of Logan High School and Mesalands Community College graduate.

The IFR43 was held in Oklahoma City Jan. 18-20 and Pyne was a top performer in barrel racing all weekend, earning a pair of reserve wins before claiming a go round buckle of her own in the third do on Saturday night.

A solid run in the fourth go round on Sunday afternoon clinched a repeat world title. She was also in a three way tie for highest money winners with a tie down roper, T. J. Goleson and bull rider, Jay Miller. This too was a consecutive repeat win.

Pyne with her two horses, "Super De George" and "Hey Bill" competed in 30 IFR rodeos. She traveled with her husband Rob, and their two children, Colten, 6, and Taylor, 3. The family lives in Michigan and she is the daughter of Donald and Alva Walker.
