Region under blizzard warning

The National Weather Service is reporting a 100 percent chance of precipitation tonight in eastern New Mexico with snow estimates ranging from 2 to 7 inches.

The Tucumcari area can expect 3 to 7 inches, NWS reports, with 50 mph winds threatening to create whiteout conditions.

The Clovis-Portales areas can expect 2 to 4 inches tonight, as well as 50 mph winds.

Weather officials are expecting the snow to stop falling late Monday morning. High winds are expected to continue into Monday afternoon, NWS predicts.
