Bird’s nest causes power outage

A total of 3,256 customers, basically the entire city of Tucumcari, lost power from 7:06 to about 8:30 Saturday morning. Xcel Energy spokesperson Wes Reeves said the outage occurred because pieces of a bird's nest made contact with circuit protection equipment at the Tucumcari substation on Campbell Avenue.
