Candidates for director positions on the Arch Hurley Conservancy District must file their declarations by July 26, according to a resolution the district’s board approved June 11.
Two board positions, one representing municipalities and one representing the district at-large, will be decided in the election, which will be held from 7 a.m . to 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at the district’s office, 101 E. High St., Tucumcari.
Early and absentee voting will begin on Sept. 18.
To be eligible to vote in the election , a person must be over 18 years old, and own real estate within the Arch Hurley Conservancy District boundaries by July 18.
Candidates must file their declarations, accompanied by petitions, before 4:30 p.m. July 26 at the district office to have their names appear on the ballot. On that day, there will be drawing to determine placement of names on the ballot. If no candidate has filed for a position before July 26, candidates will have until Sept. 11 to declare their candidacy for that position.
