City approves airport design, construction contracts

The Tucumcari City Commission approved more than $87,100 in design and construction contracts for improvement of runways and the perimeter road at Tucumcari Airport Thursday evening.

The projects include design services for pavement maintenance ($9,661) and seal coating and limited crack filling ($17,000) on the airport’s runway, and more than $53,200 for construction on the airport’s perimeter road, according to project documents presented to the commission.

Funding for all but the friction-testing projects is 90 percent from the Federal Aviation Administration, and 5 percent each from state and city funds.

The friction-testing projects is 95 percent state-funded and 5-percent city-funded.
