The carnival Midway of Sun Valley Rides will be returning to the Quay County Fair as officials look to repeat last year’s increased attendance numbers.
Last year was the first time in four years fairgoers were able to enjoy the rides and games of a midway at the Quay County Fair, said Brenda Bishop, fair board secretary.
Bishop said the rides and games offered by Sun Valley Rides were a hit with the residents. She said the younger crowd was especially pleased to have the midway back, which in turn meant more parents were at the fair as well.
Bishop said there have always been a high number of people who entered items into the fair, though the midway increased the number of people who purchased items from the vendors in the exhibit hall.
She said the 4-H concession sales were also higher than previous fairs.
This year there will be 52 vendor and organization booths inside the exhibit hall as well as three outdoor food vendors for people to enjoy, said Jodi Young, fair board member.
Young said there are a total of 70 booth spaces though 18 have been reserved for the crafts and hobbies entrants. She said vendors had to submit an application for a booth by Aug. 1 to reserve space.
Bishop said they were pleased to learn that Sun Valley Rides also plans to feature new rides for this year’s midway.
The carnival will run 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Aug. 14- 17.
