Tucumcari Volleyball Invitational Begins

The Tucumcari Lady Rattlers and seven other squads from across the state are competing in a two-day volleyball tournament at Tucumcari High School’s Snake Pit.

The Tucumcari Rattler Invitational pool play kicked off on Thursday morning with teams competing two-set competition to determine seeding.

“The girls are doing great.  We had some issues with Santa Rosa but we will address that once bracket play begins,” said Lawrence Sena, Lady Rattlers head coach.

Sena said the tournament gives teams an opportunity to play against familiar and new opponents, which gives them them the opportunity to learn other teams’  different styles and adjust.

Bracket play began at 3:30 p.m. and will continue until 7 p.m. Thursday at the Snake Pit. Games are also being held in the Tucumcari Middle School Gym.

Games will resume at 10 a.m. Saturday including the championship and consolation games.
