Light snow expected as cold snap remains; roads near Quay are hazardous

Light snow is expected today as bitterly cold weather remains in the forecast for Quay County and surrounding areas. The high today is expected to be 25 degrees; the low, 11.

According to the New Mexico Dept. of Transportation, difficult driving can be expected in areas near Quay County, including:

NM104, from Conchas to Las Vegas: Roadway is snow-packed and icy with moderate snow fall. Crews are out plowing, salting and cindering. Please drive with caution, reduce speed and obey all posted traffic signs.

I-40 from Clines Corners to Santa Rosa: Roadway is wet with some accumulation on the shoulders, light snow fall. Crews are out plowing, salting and cindering. Please drive with caution as there may be icy spots, reduce speed and obey all posted traffic signs.

US 84 from Fort Sumner to near Santa Rosa: Roadway is wet with some snow accumulation on the shoulders.

NM39 from Gallegos to Mosquero: Fair driving conditions. Watch for icy spots as temperatures drop. Crews are out salting and cindering.
