The team members are Ashlee Bradley, Wyatt Bishop, Taylor Hayes and Aleahna Branch.
To claim victory, the team had to win four rounds of double-elimination competition in the national competition, Brenda Bishop, 4H coordinator for the Quay County Extenstion Service, said. The team won the New Mexico state championship in July.
The team won by mastering knowledge from the areas of nutrition, Internet safety, cleaning products, luggage, healthy and unhealthy beverages and yogurt, Bishop said. She said the team has been practicing for the nationals since September and continued to practice over the holiday break from school.
“There was a lot of new material to study,” between the state and national competition, Bishop said.
