District basketball tournaments are underway

Here are the latest results and scheduled games for Quay County high school basketball teams in district tournament play:



The (21-6) (3-2) Logan Lady Longhorns lost to the (16-10) (4-1) Melrose Lady Buffaloes Monday night at Clovis High School. The two teams were competing for first place in the district 3-1A field.

With that loss, the Lady Longhorns will play the (10-15) (0-4) Fort Sumner Vixens at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Logan.

The (16-10) (4-0) Logan Longhorns will play at 7 p.m., Thursday night against the winner of Tuesday night’s game between (10-15) (0-4) Fort Sumner and (12-11) (2-2) Melrose.



The (7-19) (0-6) Tucumcari Lady Rattlers lost 51-40 Monday night to the (14-11) (2-4) Santa Rosa Lady Lions and will now await state seeding to find out if their season is over.


The (23-3) (5-2) Texico Wolverines lost 70-60 Monday night to the (22-3) (6-1) Clayton Yellowjackets in a game played in Tucumcari. The Yellowjackets emerged as first place in the District 4-2A field.

The Wolverines will play on Thursday against the (14-10) (2-4) Santa Rosa Lions. The Lions beat the (11-15) (0-6) Tucumcari Rattlers 59-47 Tuesday night at Santa Rosa.


Class B

The (9-11) (1-0) San Jon Coyotes and (3-18) (0-3) Lady Coyotes are still competing in their regular season district play, and both teams will be in action against Grady at 5 p.m. Saturday at San Jon.
