Citing urgent family health issues, Tucumcari’s First District Commissioner Dora Salinas-McTigue resigned from the city commission on Tuesday, effective immediately.
Salinas McTigue said she is resigning “with a heavy heart.”
“It is not an easy decision to make, but my family comes first,” she said.
McTigue was elected to the commission in 2012 to serve a term that would have ended in 2016.
She survived a recall election in January.
“It’s sad that she’s leaving,” Mayor Robert Lumpkin said. “I feel that she was becoming an experienced commissioner, but family is more important. I wish her and her family the best.
