Tucumcari District 1 candidates may file until noon, April 21

Persons interested in serving as Tucumcari District 1’s city commissioner may file their candidacy at Tucumcari City Hall until noon on April 21, the Tucumcari City Commission decided Thursday.
The commission has scheduled May 8 for interviews of potential candidates and appointing one to the commission. The appointee will fill out the term vacated by Dora Salinas-McTigue, who resigned fom the commission on March 25 due to family health concerns. That term ends in 2016.
The commission decided to wait until its May 8 meeting, rather than make the decision at the April 24 session, in order to assure that all four commissioners are involved in the appointment. District 4 Commissioner Ruth Ann Litchfield said she will not be available for the April 24 meeting.
