Police identify Tucumcari homicide victim found in Clovis

A Tucumcari man, an apparent homicide victim, whose body was found at a house on Sheldon Street, Clovis, Monday has been identified as Jose Barrera, 33, Clovis police said in a news release.

Barrera’s body was found at about 12:20 p.m. Monday in a house at 413 N. Sheldon St., Clovis. Barrera had been living as a transient in Clovis with no permanent address, the release said.

The release said police are seeking two men for questioning: Frank Campos, 42, and Lorenzo Medina, 37, both of Clovis. Medina is also know as “Torro,” according to the release.

The release said anyone with any knowledge of the whereabouts or how to contact Campos or Medina should contact Clovis police at 769-1921 and ask to speak to a detective.

The release also noted a preliminary cause of Barrera’s death was expected from the New Mexico Office of the Medical investigator later today. Police spokesman Capt. Patrick Whitney said Monday it appeared Barrera was either shot or bludgeoned to death.
