Police are seeking the public’s help in their investigation of an attempted child abduction in Tucumcari.
At 10 p.m. Tuesday officers responded to the report of an attempted abduction of a child at the Little League fields in the 1500 block of west Route 66, said Tucumcari Police Chief Jason Braziel.
Braziel said a man grabbed a child and attempted to restrain them near the bathrooms at the Little League field. He said the child was able to get away and notify their parents.
Braziel said officers searched the area for the individual described to them by the victim. He said K-9 officer Tyler Marney and his partner Aries attempted to track the man near the Arch Hurley Conservancy District canal access road.
No one was taken into custody or arrested and this is still an ongoing investigation.
Braziel said police are urging parents to be cautious while out at the fields. He said all the lights in the park will be turned on during Little League games played in the future.
