Three years old...

Aiyana Roybal celebrated her third birthday on July 26. The daughter of Felicia Roybal of Tucumcari and Daniel Mendoza of Amarillo, Aiyana enjoyed a princess party with family and friends. She is the granddaughter of Alvin and Judy Benavidez of Tucumcari and Daneil and Magie Mendoza  of Amarillo. Her great-grandmothers are Barbara Benavidez and Viola Griego, both of Tucumcari.

100 and counting...

Rosa Otero recently celebrated her 100th birthday with 250 family and friends.

Festivities began May 31 with the celebration of a mass at St. Anne's Catholic Church and a dinner and reception at the Elks Lodge, where Otero danced to  a few Spanish numbers played by the band.

At one time, Otero served as a senior companion to senior citizens who were younger than she, said a family member.

Joining Otero in her centennial celebration were her daughter, Lucia Segura, and five sons, James, Nano, Pat, Seven and Gene Otero. The centenarian has 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Out of town guests traveled from Arizona, California, Colorado, Minnesota and from New Mexico for the event.
