Upcoming sports events for Quay County high school teams include:
Tucumcari Cross Country
Tucumcari Girls: ranked #42/all classes in state, Boys: ranked #72/all classes in state. Girls and Boys teams will compete in the East Mountain Invite, Saturday.
Rattler Coach Gary Hittson said, "Sandia Crest is very challenging, altitude is a factor. We are getting ready for the state meet at Rio Rancho.”
Sophomore Holly Binkley said, “It is fun but the courses are challenging."
Volleyball
Tucumcari, 4-7, will compete in the Melrose Invite Saturday.
San Jon, 2-6, vs Clovis Christian, 3-7, at 4 p.m. Thursday at Clovis. Coyotes head coach Tyra Davis said, "If the girls play like they did against Mosquero, then we have a good chance to beat them (Clovis Christian). Our serves and passing have gotten a lot better. I feel that the girls have the desire and drive to compete well this year in district."
Logan, 5-5, vs San Jon 2-6, at 4:30 p.m. Friday at San Jon.
House, 0-12, vs San Jon, 2-6, at 6 p.m.Tuesday at San Jon.
