Cats to have six home games in 2010
Clovis opens t0-game slate against Alamo on Aug. 27 at Leon Williams
The Clovis Wildcats will spend a lot of time on their home turf this season.
The 2010 football schedule includes six home games in a 10-game regular season, which kicked off at 7 p.m. on Aug. 27 against Alamogordo.
The Wildcats follow up with a 5 p.m. Sept. 4 road game against Eldorado, at Wilson Stadium in Albuquerque. It is the only Saturday game on the schedule, with all other games 7 p.m. Friday affairs.
Clovis alternates home and road for the first seven weeks of the season. After Alamogordo, Clovis hosts La Cueva Sept. 10, Rio Rancho Sept. 24 (homecoming) and Artesia. After Eldorado, the Wildcats visit Rio Rancho Cleveland and Goddard.
Clovis hosts Manzano Oct. 15 before opening District 4-5A play the following week with a home game against Hobbs. The Eagles and Carlsbad will play Oct. 29, with Clovis on a bye, and the Wildcats visit the Cavemen on Nov. 5.
Cleveland and Manzano replace Highland and Cibola on this year’s slate.
Clovis High assistant Darren Kelley said the changes had more to do with the Albuquerque Public Schools than the individual teams.
The district made cuts to travel bud-gets, Kelley said, so Cleveland was picked up. The Storm are under the Rio Rancho school district and have different travel restrictions.
