Diversified crops subject of Ag program

Grain sorghum and diversified crops are the subject of a Texas AgriLife Extension Service program Friday in Muleshoe.

The program will be held from 9 a.m.-noon (CST) at the Bailey County Coliseum, 118 West Ave. C in Muleshoe

Grain sorghum, sunflower and other crops will be discussed. The program will be conducted by local and regional Texas AgriLife Extension Service staff. Subject matter will include agronomy and pest management.

Pesticide training to be held in Muleshoe

A Texas private pesticide applicator training and testing program will be held March 11 at the Bailey County Extension office, 118 West Ave. C in Muleshoe.

The training will begin at 9 a.m. (CST) and testing should conclude by 2:30 p.m. Texas AgriLife Extension will provide the training and Texas Department of Agriculture will administer the test.

A $20 charge includes a private applicator manual. Attendees are encouraged to bring a calculator for use during testing.

Sorghum association meeting in Clovis

The New Mexico Grain Sorghum Association is holding its annual meeting 6:30 p.m. March 18 at K-Bob’s Steakhouse in Clovis.

The meal is complimentary, according to a release from the organization, and topics discussed will include the Route 66 Ethanol plant in Tucumcari and a Curry County yield correction for crop insurance.
