Growing on three...

Diamond Lashae Harper is celebrating her third birthday on Monday. Joining her on her birthday are her brothers, Cory, Kaleb and Jacob, and her sister, Sierra, all of Tucumcari. Born in Miden, La., the Diamond's have lived in Tucumcari about six months. Diamond enjoys the singing and dancing of Dora, the Explorer. She's the daughter of Robyn Logan and the niece of Tracee Gonzalez, both of Tucumcari.

Sixth-grade celebration...

Santiago Blackmon celebrates his 13th birthday on Thursday. He is a sixth grader at Tucumcari Middle School. Santiago was the quarterback for the Jets, the football team sponsored by the city's Recreation Department. His other sports interests include biking, skateboarding, basketball and playing Xbox. Santiago is the grandson of Robert and Connie Lucero.

70 years and counting...

Lem and Josephine Shiplet of Clovis and formerly of San Jon, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Nov. 27

The couple was married November 27, 1937 in Santa Rosa, N.M.

They have two children, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He is a retired bus contractor for San Jon schools and a former rancher.

She is a retired school teacher, having taught for 37 years for San Jon High School.

Family and friends will announce the celebration date in the future and invitations will be sent.
