As the year comes to a close, I am filled with a sense of enthusiasm for what the new year will bring.  I can honestly say this feeling is due to the fact that we have a full staff at the Quay County Sun.
While many of you might be wondering why my co-workers would have anything to do with my attitude, I’ll be more than happy to explain.
Over the years the office has had a series of vacancies in editorial and advertisement. This, at times, has placed myself and one other person in the office.
At one point, I was alone in the QCS office. There was no one at the office when I arrived in the morning and no one there when I was writing at night. Now some people might jump at the chance to work alone but not I. I am what you call a social person. I like to interact with people. At times we agree and laugh and at others we yell and disagree.
So after months of solitude, which I thought at one point was my punishment for making the other employees quit, I was excited to have Joey Haas start working in outside sales.
Joey and I began talking and developed a friendship over the months, and we were soon joined by Amanda Smith in classified sales.
Their presence in the building made the office atmosphere so much better for me. I have always enjoyed working at the QCS office. It can be trying at times but then that could be said for any job. When I first started working in the office, Jade, Tara and Chelle were here and our work relation was much like the one I have now in the office. We all did our best to get our work done, but we had some good laughs along the way.
The recent addition of Russell Anglin has completed the puzzle and provided a new element to the chemistry which is the QCS office.
At first I did not know what to think of Russell, or “little drummer boy” if you will (you will just have to ask him or trust me about that one).  He is eight years younger than me and may assume the role which was left vacant by my friend Chris Schmadeke as editor of the paper.
It took a few days, but Russell’s charisma soon began to mix well with the rest of the QCS office folk.
So now the office is a lively place filled with great conversation, laughs and the occasional argument. While our main focus is the production of content and advertisement sales, we still take the time to make sure we are having a good day, sing the occasional random song or even make a random movie reference.
