On Thursday, June 24, the Summer Reading Program at Tucumcari Public Library held a magic show featuring the Amazing Bodinni from Albuquerque. We had 207 people attend the program held at the Mesalands Community College. The people in the picture are of course the Amazing Bodinni, Arissa Griego, Thomas Morris, and Gabriel Chavez.

Damien Deynata celebrated his third birthday with a Cars theme on June 19 with friends and family at the park in Logan. He was born on June 17, 2007. He is the son of Alex and Melissa Deynata.

Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2528 and its Ladies Auxiliary of Tucumcari, attended the annual VFW state Convention in Albuquerque during the weekend of June 17-20, 2010. The Post received many awards for it’s mandated programs. However, the highlight of the evening during the State Banquet on Saturday evening was the presentation of our Patriots Pen essay Contest entry. Vincent J. Grap (TMS) placed 1st at our Post level, District level, State level and also placed 14th Nationally. Vincent recited his essay on (Why American Veterans Should Be Honored). He received a standing ovation from the 400 plus Veterans and guests in attendance. Vincent has been presented with over 2,000.00 for his effort. Vincent is the son of Erick and Diane Grap of Tucumcari, his brother and father are presently serving in Afghanistan and Iraq with the Military Armed Forces. VFW Post 2528 is the proud sponsor of this future leader, and we wish him the best in all his future endeavors.
Awards were presented by the National Representative and the State Commander, (Raul V. Sanchez). Pictured with Vincent are the Post chairman Mucio J. Lopez and State programs Chairperson, Kathleen E. Lopez.
