2009 Pecan Treasures Food Show results

In the youth categories Ashlee Bradley placed first in the bread class with a zucchini bread, Andy and Crestina Cordova placed first in the candy class with pecan brittle, Taylor Atwood placed first in the cake from scratch class with a toasted butter pecan cake and Taylor Atwood placed second in the miscellaneous class with a sweet trails snack mix. The Grand Champion in the youth division was Ashlee Bradley’s zucchini bread. Reserved Grand Champion was Andy and Crestina Cordova with their pecan brittle.

In the Adult Division, Lisa Hight placed first with her pecan apple bundt cake in the cake from scratch class. Nina Lynn placed second with spiced pecans in the miscellaneous class. Competition was stiff in the candy class with Lisa Griggs' 2 friends toffee taking the first . Ann Balch with Rolo Pretzels placed second, Bobby Marchbanks with Pecan Bark placed third and Bill Lynn with microwave pecan brittle placed fourth . The Grand Champion ribbon was presented to Lisa Hight and the Reserve Champion went to Lisa Griggs.

Just in time for Christmas, the Quay County Fairboard will be cooking their famous briskets. Only 120 briskets will be available so they will be sold on a first come first serve basis. Briskets should be picked up on Friday, December 18th from noon -4:00 p.m. at the Quay County Fairgrounds. Briskets will be $40.00. Precooked weight will be around 10 pounds. To reserve your brisket call Nick at Holiday Tire at 461-1184. Proceeds will be used to cover expenses for the 2010 Quay County Fair. These briskets are handy for the many meals you will be serving friends and families this holiday season.
