City commissioners approved an ordiance for an application for loval economic develpoment assistance for building a new day care in Tucumcari during Thursday’s meeting.
Patrick Vanderpool, who is the extecutive director of the Greater Tucumcari Economic Development agency, presented the ordiance to the commission. “It will open some new jobs in Tucumcari,” Vanderpool said during the meeting. “It will only be nine jobs but still some new jobs.”
The city’s approval gives economic development the ability to assist Children’s Haven in building its new facility.
“Day cares are needed everywhere,” Commissioner Robert Lumpkin said. “This will be good for our community.”
In other business, the commissioners approved a resloution to raise the prices at the Tucumcari Municipal Musuem. Adults will now be $5, childeren ages 6-15, $1 and senior citizens will be $4.

• Mayor Antonio Apodoca signed a proclamation to declare November as National Hospice Month in Tucumcari.
