LAS VEGAS, N.M.  - State Taxation and Revenue officials plan to auction 116 lots of a subdivision near Conchas Lake to recover unpaid taxes, penalties and interest from delinquent taxpayers.

The auction is Wednesday at state District Court in Las Vegas, N.M.

Taxation and Revenue Secretary Rick Homans says the state works with delinquent taxpayers to get taxes paid. He says after three years of delinquency, properties are put up for bid, and that usually means an opportunity to buy property at a favorable price.

Homans says property owners at the Conchas Lake site owe about $73,000 in back taxes to San Miguel County, plus interest and penalties to the state.

The appraised value of an individual lot is estimated at more than $7,000.
