Meet your neighbor: Kimberly Hanna

Your profession: I was a recruiter at Mesalands Community College for a year and have recently been promoted to director of public relations.

Birthday: May 11, 1984

Hometown: Amarillo

What’s your idea of a perfect day? I love to lay around and rest on Saturdays. But that does not happen often.

Tell us about your pets: I do not have any pets, but would love to have a small dog.

What’s your favorite TV show? CSI. All of them!

Tell us about a happy time: The first time I had my article printed in the Quay County Sun.

When you were a kid, what did you think you’d be doing as an adult? I wanted to be a news reporter, but after working at a TV station, I changed my major to public relations. I believe I made the right choice.

If money were no object, what would you do to make the world a better place? I would like to set up a scholarship fund targeted toward helping minorities fund their college education. I would also like to travel around the country helping students prepare for college, including filling out financial aid information and admissions applications. I would also like to talk to them about the benefits of a college education.

Who is your hero and why? My mother is my hero because even though she is a single parent, she has always done her best in providing for me and making sure I never give less than my best.

Tell us about your greatest individual accomplishment: When I received the Student Leader of the Year Award in 2004 from Eastern New Mexico University. I did many different extra-curricular activities in college including community service and it was nice to be recognized for my hard work.

If I could do anything, I would ... love to be an event planner and have the opportunity to plan very expensive and upscale weddings.

What is your greatest hope? Doing a great job in my new position.

What’s your favorite part about your job? Telling people about the great things going on at Mesalands.
