A 49-year-old Tucumcari woman was shot with a BB gun in the arm, wrist and back about 1 p.m. Friday, Police Chief Roger Hatcher said.
She was transported to Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital where X-rays showed four BBs lodged beneath her skin, Hatcher said.
Hatcher said the victim told officers four male juveniles wearing orange shorts, shirts and bandanas shot multiple times with a pistol as she was walking to her residence along East Tucumcari Boulevard in front of Readmore Bookstore.
Hatcher said the incident may be gang related since all four suspects were wearing the same kind of clothes and colors.
"This was an unprovoked attack and behavior like this concerns me greatly," Hatcher said. "These individuals attacked a woman for no reason in broad daylight. What could they be practicing for?"
Hatcher said Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of the four suspects.
Crime Stoppers can be reached at 575-461-3700.
