The following is a sample of calls received during the last few days by the central dispatch office for Quay County, based at the Tucumcari Police Department.
Tuesday
l At 5:36 a.m., an anonymous caller on east Hwy 54 reported that about 12 to 24 roosters across the street from him had crowed very loudly between 3 a.m. and 8 a.m. The caller requested an officer to come listen to the roosters so he could get a police report to take to a judge. An officer advised someone would go listen to them at a time to be determined.
l At 8:45 a.m., an anonymous caller reported to the Quay County Sheriff’s Office that livestock were out on Interstate 40 at mile marker 351 between 11 mile road and San Jon. A deputy advised he contacted the owner who said he would go get his bull.
l At 8:54 a.m., a male came to the Tucumcari Police Department to file charges against a renter who issued him a worthless check. An officer advised he would take a report and turn it over to the District Attorney.
l At 11:29 a.m., a female came to the Tucumcari Police Department to request an officer for a civil standby while she picked up her baby’s things from a residence on west High Street.
l At 12:10 p.m., a female on west Sunset Avenue requested an officer in reference to someone stealing her furniture. The caller said she had asked a female subject to store the furniture for her and the female subject said the furniture was given to her. An officer advised it was a civil matter and they would have to go to court to settle the matter.
l At 1:37 p.m., a male reported a small rattlesnake in his back yard on south Adams Street. An officer advised that the snake had gotten away before police arrived at the residence.
l At 4:33 p.m., an employee at a business on west Route 66 Boulevard requested an officer to the business in reference to a shoplifter in custody at the business.
Wednesday
l At 5:51 a.m., the New Mexico State Police reported an accident with no injuries involving a jackknifed semi truck on Mountain Road between Flying J and Loves truck stops.
l At 11:06 a.m., a female reported vandalism to her garage on south Third Street.
l At 11:27 a.m., a female reported some items stolen from the backyard of her residence on south Adams Street.
l At 12:24 p.m., a male reported that there was a red racer snake approximately six-feet long between the fence and the building at a business on east Tucumcari Boulevard.
l At 12:47 p.m., a male came to the Tucumcari Police Department to report his check book was lost or stolen.
l At 1:36 p.m., a female from Roy called the Harding County Sheriff’s Office to report that her son was missing. The caller said her son’s backpack and laptop were found between the school and his residence in Roy. At 2:31 p.m., a Harding County Sheriff’s deputy advised the subject had been located walking to Mosquero to see his girlfriend.
l At 2:20 p.m., a female on east Aber Street reported that a tire on her vehicle had been slashed during the night.
Thursday
l At 5:28 a.m., a male reported that a go-cart had been stolen from his backyard on south Fourth Street sometime during the night. An officer advised that the go-cart was recovered at an unoccupied house and returned to the owner.
l At 12:02 p.m., the Quay County Sheriff’s Office and the Logan Police Department received 911 calls that a truck and a boat had jack-knifed at the Revuelto Creek Bridge on Highway 469.
l At 2:46 p.m., a female reported a male subject trespassing on her property on QR 41. An officer advised that the subject was an employee of the U.S. Census Bureau and the subject’s manager was going to talk to the caller.
l At 4:53 p.m., a female requested an officer to her place of employment on west Estrella Avenue in reference to someone trying to slash her tires while she was at school. An officer advised that there was a slash on the front passenger tire.
At 6:14 p.m., a female on east Laughlin Street reported that someone had stolen her air conditioner out of her window.
At 6:18 p.m., a male on south Sixth Street reported that his neighbor’s were gone and when he checked on their house for them, he found that someone had broken in and trashed the house.
