The following is a sample of calls received during the last few days by the central dispatch office for Quay County, based at the Tucumcari Police Department.
Friday
l At 12:38 a.m. a female reported a possible burglary at her house on south Second Street. She said that she was sitting in the den with the lights on when a male subject came up to the house and shined a flashlight in the window. She turned the porch light on and off a few times and the subject went down the alley. The caller requested an officer to check the alley.
l At 8:36 a.m., a female employee of a business on east Route 66 Boulevard reported that a subject had given her a phony traveler's check.
l At 12:21 p.m., a female on east Miel De Luna Avenue requested an officer be sent to the ER to take a dog bite report.
l At 1:48 p.m., a female came to the Tucumcari Police Department to report someone had stolen the plate off of her truck.
l At 2:15 p.m., a female employee of a business on west Tucumcari Boulevard requested an officer in reference to a counterfeit traveler's check that was just returned to the store by the bank.
l At 2:34 p.m., a female caller reported that another counterfeit check had been passed at the same business on west Tucumcari Boulevard.
l At 9:13 p.m., a female on east Miel De Luna Avenue reported that a boy had been attacked by a dog on Hancock Avenue. An officer advised that he issued two citations and the dog was picked up.
l At 5:44 a.m., a female in Nara Visa reported that a neighbor had six to seven large dogs and that three to four of them were out. The caller said that the dogs were trying to attack her horse and had also jumped at her granddaughter. A Quay County Sheriff’s officer advised the caller to find out if there was a city ordinance and to contact the Nara Visa City Counsel.
Saturday
l At 3:14 p.m., several anonymous 911 calls reported a fire with a lot of open flames near Interstate 40 and Mountain Road. An officer advised that there was a controlled burn in that area and would check to make sure the fire was still under control.
l At 3:38 p.m., a female reported domestic violence incident and requested an officer come to a house on south Seventh Street.
l At 5:32 p.m., a female requested an officer come to a residence on south Sixth Street and remove an unwanted subject who had been coming to her house intoxicated and causing trouble for the last three days.
l At 7:59 p.m., a female reported that a vending machine was broken into on east Tucumcari Boulevard.
l At 9:08 p.m., a male called to report a burglary on south First Street. A flat screen TV, a computer and a shotgun were stolen.
l At 4:50 p.m., an anonymous caller reported to the Quay County Sheriff’s Department that a white sedan had been left for three days on a jack with its back end out in the eastbound lane of Route 66 on the south side of Interstate 40 near Airport Road. A Sheriff’s officer advised they would check to make sure it had been moved.
