Albert J. Mitchell, Jr., a past president and member of the Tucumcari Public Schools Board resigned Monday night.


Mitchell resigned to become judge to the 10th Judicial Circuit, a post he was elected to Nov. 4.  His resignation was effective at midnight Monday.


Mitchell said he was pleased the board looked at the overall education of all the students instead of one particular class. He also said he was thankful to have been able to serve, and with his  fellow  board members.


In other matters:
l A special meeting was scheduled at noon on Dec. 11 to consider contractors for the multi-million dollar renovation of Tucumcari High School.

Superintendent Aaron McKinney said five contractors, including two of the largest in the state, were bidding on the project. A committee will gather on Dec. 10 to review the bids.
