The following is a sample of calls received during the last few days by the central dispatch office for Quay County, based at the Tucumcari Police Department.
Friday
l At 12:47 p.m., a male reported that the locks had been cut off of several of the storage lockers on south Eleventh Street.
l At 4:26 p.m., a female came to the Tucumcari Police Department to report that her computer had been stolen from her house.
l At 6:44p.m., a female reported that another semi had backed into her car at a business on Mountain Road.
l At 8:18 p.m., a clerk at a business on east Route 66 Boulevard reported that a female subject had paid with a fake $50 bill. An officer advised the other subject in the party would make restitution for what was owed.
l At 11:33 p.m. an anonymous caller reported the theft of four 30-packs of beer at a business on east Route 66 Boulevard.
l At 10:47 a.m., an anonymous caller reported a burglary on Quay Road 63.4. An unknown subject or subjects had gained entry through a back door and ransacked the residence, and two jewelry boxes, a Bearcat scanner and a fax machine were taken. The stereos were taken out of the vehicles, the sunroof of one vehicle was torn out, and several old knives were missing from a storage shed.
l At 8:17 a.m., a State Police officer requested an ambulance to a field behind a motel on east Tucumcari Boulevard for an accident involving a truck and boat that had left Interstate 40 and had gone through the fence.
Saturday
l At 7:56 a.m., a female reported that a skunk had gone into her backyard on north Rock Island Street during the night and attacked her dog. The skunk was now dead and she was concerned that the skunk might have rabies. The Quay County Sheriff’s office advised that they did not have an animal control service and the caller would have to contact a vet. The caller said she would have a bonfire and burn the remains of the skunk if it was not going to be picked up. The Quay County Sheriff’s office advised that there was nothing that they could do as there was not a county ordinance.
l At 9:27 a.m., an anonymous caller reported that small kids were running back and forth across east Main Street and there appeared to be no parents around.
l At 9:34 a.m., a female reported that graffiti had been sprayed in blue paint on her garage on the alley at her house on south Fourth Street. A police officer advised that graffiti was also found in the alley at two houses on south Fifth Street and that two dumpsters had graffiti in blue paint on them.
l At 9:36 a.m., an anonymous caller reported criminal damage to his property on west High Street. A statue of St. Christopher had been pushed over and the head was broken off. The investigating police officer advised that it was unclear if the damage was criminal or a result of natural causes.
At 12:32 p.m., a male reported that four dogs had just killed a cat in his backyard on Canal Drive.
At 12:55 p.m., an anonymous caller reported an unwanted subject going through the trash in their dumpster on west Main Street. The caller requested an officer to tell the subject to leave because the subject had said that once they throw something out, anyone can go through it.
At 6:07 p.m., male called to report a suspicious subject in his neighborhood on south Choctaw Street. The caller advised his neighbor came over asking if anyone had been peeping in his windows. The neighbor said that a man in a white or grey sweater/hoodie had peeped in his window and he had tried to catch him, but the subject took off running down the alley in the Dawson Street, Choctaw Street and Aber Street area.
At 6:14 p.m., a female reported that her ex-boyfriend had refused to leave her house on south Eighth Street. She advised that she had hit him with a bat and she keeps telling him to leave, but he will not. An investigating officer advised that the subject left the area.
At 10:04 p.m., a female reported that someone had thrown a rock through a plate glass window at her home on south Second Street.
At 4:10 p.m., a female reported a grass fire and a pickup on fire on Quay Road. The Jordan Fire Department responded. The unit advised that the fire was out at 5:49 p.m.
Sunday
At 12:59 a.m., a female reported that a man had broken into her house on south Third Street and threatened her with a knife. She said the subject had already left, and that he was wearing a green mask.
At 8 a.m., a female on south Second Street reported that she had found some strange shoe prints in the front yard near the window in her house that was broken with a rock yesterday.
At 3:31 p.m., a male reported a fire in the mulch at Dunn Park at
Fourth Street and Washington Avenue.
At 5:53 p.m., a male reported that a female subject had made a $42.00 gas skip at a business on south First Street.
At 3:11 a.m., a male called the Nara Visa Fire Department to report a structure fire south of the scales in Nara Visa. At 5:40 a.m., the fire unit advised that the structure was an unoccupied trailer house and the fire was out.
At 12:02 a.m., a male reported to the Quay County Sheriff’s office that three BBs had damaged a window on south Third Street. The Sheriff’s office advised that they would take the report and pictures later during daylight.
