The New Mexico Department of Transportation is reducing the speed limit to 45 mph on Interstate 40 west of Tucumcari because of paving work, according to a press release.

The construction area is between the Paloma (Stuckey's) and the Tucumcari West exit, the release said.

There also will be lane closures on the east and westbound driving lanes through Oct. 24.
