A Tucumcari man has been charged with an open count of murder in connection with the death of a 2-year-old boy, a spokesman for the State Police said.

Marcos Martinez, 22, is charged in connection with child's death on Sept. 19, said State Police spokesman Lt. Eric Garcia. He is being held without bail.

Martinez is the boyfriend of the unidentified boy's mother.

Martinez was arraigned on Thursday. Court documents concerning the case have been sealed because it is an ongoing investigation, said District Attorney Ronald W. Reeves.
