About $750,000 in street improvements are under way in Tucumcari.

The improvements on South Adams from Main Street to Route 66 are expected to be completed in about 90 days, said Doug Powers, director of the city's Community Development department.

Construction on the GRIP II   Adams Street project began earlier this week with utility replacements, Powers said.

Paving of Adams Street  will begin when new water lines, new water meters and other  work is complete, Powers said.
That project cost is about $693,000 and includes an in-kind city match.

At the same time work is being done on South Adams Street, the cross streets between First and Adams are being repaved.

That work on Aber, High, Hancock, Laughlin and McGee is expected to be completed in about two weeks, Powers said.

The cost of repaying those streets is about $57,000, Powers said.

The contractor on the project is Versatile Construction of Tucumcari.
