Fazekas, Apodaca play in All-Star game
Recent Rattler graduates, Michael Fazekas and Andrez Apodaca, participated in the 18th Annual A/AA New Mexico All-Star North / South Football Game on June 14 at Western New Mexico University, Silver City.
These two individuals were selected to represent Tucumcari High School and Tucumcari by various coaches.
Other schools represented from the North side of the state included McCurdy, Escalante, Fort Sumner, Santa Rosa and Navajo Prep.
The North defeated the South with a score of 19 to 0.
Update on MCC Rodeo Team at CNFR in Casper
Three members of the Mesalands rodeo team wrap up seven days of competition today at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo.
Jon Luse had his third go in bareback riding on Friday, and Michael Bates also had his third go Friday in steer wrestling.
Jeff O’Donnell scored a 4.3 in steer wrestling on his third go earlier in the week, giving him a rank of 12 for the round. With no score on his second go, he finished with a total of 9.4 and a rank of 29.
In other rodeo news, Jon Luse is 4,223 votes ahead of his nearest rival, Mercede Knudson of Montana State, in the run for the title of CNFR Idol. With 74,015 votes Luse may be well on his way to winning $250. To cast your vote, to check on the current standings visit: trib.com/collegerodeo.
