The first votes in Quay County, from Nara Visa, have been tallied. They were in before voting ended at 7 p.m. today in the rest of the county because of the time zone difference in the eastern part of the county.
In Nara Visa, about half of all the eligble voters cast their ballots, according to the Precinct 4 results..
Fifty-eight percent , 31 voters, of the 53 eligible Democrats voted, and 26 percent, or 14, of the 52 eligible Republicans voted in Precinct 4.
Precinct 4 is on Central Standard Time and its results are usually the first to be counted in Quay County. Tucumcari and the rest of Quay County are on Mountain Standard Time and are traditionally the last to be counted, Quay County Clerk Ellen White said.
A check of voting at the precincts at 2:30 p.m. today found that voting was light at that time, White said.
