With an arm-bar submission over Ryan “The Lion” Diaz, Abel Cullum won the flyweight King of the Cage championship on May 17 at Harlow’s Casino in Greenville, Miss.

In one minute and 27 seconds into the fifth round, the mixed-marital arts fighter from Tucumcari claimed his third world title and his fourth championship belt.

Cullum, 21, is alternately known as the “Silent Assassin” and “Cowboy.”

With a career record 22-1-0, Cullum has remained undefeated since 2005. The Web site www.fightmatrix.com now ranks Cullum No. 9 in the world, in the flyweight class, up from No. 11 three months ago.

Cullum is a five-time World Junior Bantamweight Champion for Desert Xtreme and a two-time Lightweight Champion for Southwest Fury.

The wins have also brought Cullum a multi-fight contract with EliteXC for fights to be shown on Showtime in the future.

In August, Cullum expects to get a rematch with Richard Montano to avenge the only loss of his career. The date and place are to be announced.

At noon on June 7, Cullum will be signing autographs at the official unveiling of his latest championship belt at Hamilton Ford in Tucumcari.
