A “sizable amount” of cocaine was seized late Friday afternoon during a routine traffic stop by Tucumcari police, Police Chief Roger Hatcher said. He declined to say how much cocaine was seized.
The traffic stop was made near the overpass at First and Main streets, Hatcher said. “We were out doing some DWI traffic stops because of complaints we had gotten,” Hatcher said.
No arrests were made and the case has been turned over to the federal Drug Enforcement Agency, Hatcher said.
DEA officers took a suspect and the confiscated cocaine to Albuquerque, Hatcher said.
Hatcher declined to release any additional information.
