The Tucumcari Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution honored its essay contest winners and Good Citizens at a luncheon meeting Friday.
“Espionage During the American Revolution” was the topic of the 2007-2008 essay.
Seventh-grade winner was Jayde Arguello from Tucumcari Middle School.
Eighth-grade winner was Kaylee Ann Tibbs of House, and the overall winner was Kirsten Dunlap, an eighth-grader from Tucumcari Middle School. Kirsten's essay was entered in the DAR’s state competition.
The high school essay was on "How the Four Voyages of Christopher Columbus changed our perception of Geography." Christopher Allen, Senior at House High School was the Chapter winner.
DAR recognized the area Good Citizen Winner, Kyle Hazen of Roy High School. Kyle received a certificate and a check for $50.
