Owners Rachel and Mike Hicklin are at the center of the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The Cornerstone & Frozen Custard Deli held its official opening on Wednesday.
Members of the Tucumcari Chamber of Commerce, guests and friends helped the owners Rachel and Mike Hicklin of Tucumcari cut the traditional red ribbon.
The Hicklins began planning the deli in December 2006. The business opened its doors on Oct. 1.
Managed by Rachel Hicklin's son, Ruben Dominguez, the deli offers fresh toasted sandwiches, soups, salads and fresh baked goods.
"The reception from the community has been good," said Mike Hicklin.
The deli also offers sweet frozen treats. Frozen custards from vanilla, chocolate, sugar free vanilla and holiday flavors.
By Thanksgiving, Mike Hicklin said, "We got the basics down a little better and experimented with a pumpkin pie flavored custard. The customers seemed to enjoy it and we will be looking to come up with additional flavors."
Work is constantly going into developing new items for the menu to improve customers's dining experience, Hicklin said.
