The Tucumcari Post Office is down to its second skin. The stone panels were coming off the walls of the Post Office building on Tuesday. And it was being done on purpose. The building's outer skin has been an item of concern and interest for about three years. In July 2004, a customer came in and complained about one of the building's large stone panels because it was bowing in the middle, according to past news reports. A section of the parking lot on Aber Street has been off limits to vehicles because of the panel. Postal officials in the Dallas regional office were not available for comment.
